Acting with faith both requires and generates energy.

How does Ontario Center Presbyterian act with faith? By praying, empowering hands-on mission, and nourishing bodies as well as souls.

Mission opportunities are sparked when someone expresses an idea on how to share God’s love in our community while meeting a need.

To remain sustainable, we “follow the energy,” trusting God to give us what we need to initiate, sustain, or sometimes move on from a ministry.

Praying with God

Yes, we pray for ourselves and each other, but also our community, country, and world.

Our weekly email supplies prayer requests to all on our email list.

Prayer Squares are written prayer requests completed during worship offering each participant the opportunity to be prayed for, and to pray for another anonymously.

During Lent, Meditation cards provide thoughtful questions for reflection. Sometimes, these have led to impromptu discussions as the Spirit moves.

Empowering Hands-On Mission

Our People in Mission Fund is dedicated to funding “hands on” mission opportunities that share God’s love and meet a community need.

Wanting to address the challenge of loneliness, we have teamed up with a local civic organization to host two free community luncheons for food and conversation. Church members and friends supported this outreach.

Nourishing Bodies

Many in our county lack adequate food and clothing, while at the same time there is much waste in both of these categories.

Volunteer

To address these needs, we volunteer at a Foodlink Pop-Up Pantry at a local church on a monthly basis.

Members of our church actively volunteer, along with those from other churches in Ontario, at the Ontario Food Pantry and the Good Samaritan Clothing Closet, providing essential resources to those who need food and clothing.

**For Wayne County residents looking for food, there is a Foodlink distribution at the Marion United Church, (3848 N. Main St., Marion, NY) the second Thursday morning of the month. This program is open to all, no referral needed. Sign in upon arrival.

Clothing

**Looking to recycle clothing OR acquire clothing? The Good Samaritan Clothing closet is open most Monday evenings 6:30-8:00 pm at the Ontario Baptist Church basement, 1929 Ridge Rd. Ontario.

Both Food Pantry coupons and cash are accepted for these low-cost items.

Nourishing Souls

There are those in our community who seek a spiritual connection outside of traditional worship. Our labyrinth ministry offers a practice to those who seek a different or additional tool for prayer, meditation, and contemplation.

Our Labyrinth

A labyrinth is an ancient method for the practice of prayer and meditation, offering a journey to our own center and back out into the world. There is no right or wrong way to use a labyrinth. You only have to enter and follow the path to see where the spirit leads.
